Sizing

In the process of textile weaving preparation, sizing is the intermediate and one of the most important operations to achieve finest weaving proficiency. It is a significant step of covering distorted threads with yarn to shield it from abrasion and stop the threads from breaking while being woven. The warped threads are coated with an adhesive substance which is known as ‘size’.

Breakage of yarn and subsequent downtime of weaving machines greatly reduce output. The smallest error in sizing process may be very harmful. So, like everywhere else in the textile industry, a smooth-running maneuver is essential to ensure effective output in the weaving division.

Objective

  • Makes the yarn stronger so that it can endure the strains and pressures of weaving.
  • Increases the yarn’s ability to resist abrasion.
  • Smoothens out the yarn.
  • Increases the weight.
  • Covers the yarn surface’s projecting fibers.
  • Makes the material stretchier.
  • Increases the elasticity of the fabric.
